Email and Internet Service

I can connect to BasicISP. Why do I not get any web pages?

You can connect to BasicISP, but cannot surf the Internet, or you receive one of the following errors:

  • The Page Cannot Be Displayed. Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site Web address. A connection with the server could not be established.
  • The page you are looking for is currently unavailable.
  • The website might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

To resolve these errors, ensure that you are still connected to BasicISP, check the website address (URL) syntax to make sure it is spelled correctly and contains all the characters in the correct case. In addition, the specific page you are attempting to access may have been removed, had its name changed, been down temporarily or been moved to a new location.

SOLUTION ONE: If you cannot access any websites while connected, please verify the following settings:

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Programs
  3. Click Internet Explorer
  4. Click Tools on the main menu
  5. Click Internet Options
  6. Click the Connections tab.
  7. Select Always dial my default connection if it is not already selected.
  8. Click the Settings... button
  9. Ensure Automatically Detect Settings is selected. If not, click to add a check mark.
  10. Ensure Automatic configuration script is not selected. If it is, click to remove the check mark.
  11. Ensure Use a proxy server is not selected. If it is, click to remove the check mark.
  12. Click Ok.
  13. Click the LAN settings button on the Internet Properties box.
  14. Ensure Automatic configuration script is not selected. If it is, click to remove the check mark.
  15. Ensure Use a proxy server is not selected. If it is, click to remove the check mark.
  16. Click Apply and then Ok
  17. Attempt to access the web pages that you could not previously access.

If this does not resolve the error, attempt Solution Two.
