BasicISP HiSpeed Settings - Windows

1) To check your BasicISPHiSpeed settings, click your rocket and go to Settings. The first tab simply shows which compression rate you are currently using. Slide it to the right for better pictures, but slow page loading. Slide it to the left for faster page loads, but blurry pictures.

2) The next tab is the Connection tab. Make sure that you have your username typed in correctly. Note that it should end in @basicisp.net. Also retype your password. Click the Advanced button.

3) The Remote Server Hostname should be speed.basicisp.net. The server port should be 7000. The local listening port should be 5400. Click OK.

4) Go to the Email tab. If you are having trouble using your email with HiSpeed, we would recommend that you disable Email compression.

5) On the Update tab, make sure that you are running the latest version of HiSpeed. If you aren't sure which version is the current version, go to www.basicisp.net/download and download the current version. If you were running an old version, it will install the newest version over the old one. If you were already running the current version, no changes will be made.

6) The Proxy Exclusion tab is used to keep BasicISPHiSpeed from compressing certain web pages. If you are having trouble accessing a particular site while using BasicISPHiSpeed, add that URL to the proxy exclusion list.

7) You will also need to check some settings in Internet Explorer (note: If you are using a different browser, please apply these settings to your browser). To check these settings, open Internet Explorer. Click Tools -> Internet Options. Click the Connections tab.

8) Highlight your BasicISP.net connection and click settings to the right.

9) Make sure that there is a check in the box that says Use a proxy server for this connection.

Click the Advanced button.

10) In the HTTP proxy box, the server should be 127.0.0.1. The port should be 5400.
