1) From the Start menu, choose Control Panel. If you cannot find Control Panel, click on Settings then click on Control Panel.

2) Click the Network and Internet Connections icon. If you do not find the Network and Internet Connections icon click on Network Connections.
|
|
|
3) Click the Set up or change your Internet Connection option. If you clicked on the Network Connections above, then ignore this step.
|
|
|
4) Click the Setup button in the top right of the box. If you clicked on Network Connections then click off to the far left where it says Create a new connection.
|
|
|
5) Click the Next button.
|
|
|
6) Select Connect to the Internet.
Click the Next button.
|
|
|
7) Select Set up my connection manually.
Click the Next button.
|
|
|
8) Select Connect using a dial-up modem.
Click the Next button.
|
|
|
9) In the ISP Name field, type Basic ISP
Click the Next button.
|
|
|
10) In the Phone number field, type your local access number exactly as it needs to be dialed without spaces or dashes. Do not put anything in the area code box.
IMPORTANT: BASICISP.NET CANNOT REPRESENT OR GUARANTEE THAT ANY DIAL-UP PORT IS LOCAL. IF ANY DOUBT EXISTS, USER SHOULD CONTACT THEIR TELEPHONE SERVICE PROVIDER DIRECTLY.
Click the Next button.

11) Type your User name with @basicisp.net (For example: user@basicisp.net), and password in the indicated fields.Remember that these fields are case sensitive.
Example:
Uncheck the box next to Use this account name and password when anyone connects to the Internet from this computer.
Check the box next to Make this the default Internet connection.
Uncheck the box next to Turn on Internet Connection Firewall for this connection.
Click the Next button.

12) Check the box next to Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop.
Click the Finish button. When you are ready to connect to the Internet, simply double click the Basic ISP shortcut on your desktop then open Internet Explorer to surf the Internet.

13) Open Internet Explorer. Click on Tools, then click on Internet Options
|
|
|
14) On the General Tab, where it says "You can change the page to use for your homepage". Type in www.mybasicisp.net, then click Apply.
|

|
15) Click on Connections Tab. Put a dot next to "Always dial my default connection", then click Apply.
|
|
|
16) While on the Connections tab, highlight the new Basic ISP connection and click Settings on the right. This will bring up the Connection Settings dialog box. In the Username and Password fields, please verify that the information appears correctly.
IMPORTANT: THE PASSWORD WILL APPEAR AS 16 DOTS. THIS IS NORMAL. IT IS A SECURITY PRECAUTION IN WINDOWS TO MASK THE LENGTH OF YOUR PASSWORD.
