If you are currently a PeoplePC user or plan on signing up with PeoplePC, be informed about how they operate. PeoplePC still requires you to install their software onto your computer to use their service. Once you become a customer of PeoplePC, their software collects information about you! Below is an excerpt from PeoplePC’s terms of service agreement:

Personal registration information. When you register as a PeoplePC Member, you will provide to us the following Personal Data: your name, telephone number, date of birth, billing and shipping addresses, email address and billing information (i.e., a credit card or debit account number). In addition, when you register, you will choose a Member Name and Password. You may also be asked to provide Personal Data when registering for other online services provided by PeoplePC. PeoplePC and its partners (see below) may use your contact information to ship your purchases to you and to provide membership services to you.
